Artist Bio

Post-Impressionist Expressive Representational Abstract Art

La Salle College of the Arts Singapore and several mentorships

Oil, Acrylic, Collage, Mixed Media

Hadil ElFaramawy discusses subtle themes of purpose and meaning in a moving and touching presentation. ElFaramawy’s work has the audience recall two of the most important art movements in the 20th century; Expressionism and Post-Impressionism placed however in a smooth modern context. Inspired by some old Masters and contemporary pioneers, her work is both familiar and fresh, satisfying the eye and the mind clearing a path into one’s soul.

ElFaramawy studied at Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore and under the mentorship of several international artists’ programs such as Gill Saul, Amanda Evanston, Dr Tarek Abdel Azim, Dr Mohamed Abla and Richard Claremont, during which she refined her skills and found her unique voice. Keeping her finger on the pulse of the messages she wanted to convey, she honed her technical skills to pursue and deeply appreciate the intentional and mindful art process.

She bases her practices on exploration and experimental techniques. She uses oil and acrylic paints as her main mediums creating vivid and spirited artwork that enchants her audience with colours, fluidity and diverse lines, holding their

interest as they find new details to explore time after time, ultimately imprinting a shared thought or feeling. ElFaramawy is very interested in the human reaction and response to art. More often than not she leaves intentional unfinished elements in her work, engaging the viewer and allowing their subjective influence and personal perspective to play a role in the artwork.

Her artistic career overlapped with several international moves. ElFaramawy resided in five countries across 3 continents over 15 years and visited many cities in each region. Acutely aware of the privilege, these opportunities inspired ElFaramawy’s interest in several subject matters; from landscapes, flora and fauna to abstract representations of everyday life. The outcome is naturally unique work influenced by the places she has been, and rooted in many cultural influences from Egyptian nuances to Asian atmospheres and European design; creating a striking representation of her point of view.

The artist has had several exhibitions in Cairo, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur; sharing her distinctive artistic experience with artists, art appreciators and collectors.

Selected Works

As a visual artist, my focus shifts between several subjects in intervals of deep focus then I tend to merge them together. I enjoy exploring techniques and styles to create diverse effects and perspectives. My current themes revolve around the differences and commonalities between people and cultures. Consciously appreciating my surroundings, I strive to convey a message of curiosity and appreciation of daily life.

A cultural mix often tends to make a feature, reminiscing on Egyptian experiences, Milanese design, European lifestyles and how they transfer through lush tropical Southeast Asia and back. The well-travelled and those aspiring to increase their travel exposure, locals and global citizens strongly relate to many of the works.

This body of work explores the duality of our personalities as introverts and extroverts at varying degrees. An impression of the artist’s studio makes a feature, full of symbolism and manifestations. While discussing themes of unpredictability and appreciation, the landscape is the chosen subject acting as the stage for all these players. We are forever tied and influenced by nature, and this may be the chance to imprint on it as well. Some technical elements are evident in the reflections and perspectives, choice of materials and proportions solidifying the point persued about the diversity of the varying temperaments within ourselves.

An expression of the multifaceted experience, where the mind’s eye wanders between nature, culture, environment, history and mythology. Where time stands still and proportion is tested and stretched. This is where you can come to get lost and then find yourself; in the grounding of the mountains, in the expanse of the desert and sea, in the flight of a bird.
